Hello World!
It’s time to reveal something pretty amazing! Our new company that until now has been waiting for the opportunity to step out from behind the curtains.
We’re Beyond Play, a small start-up from Helsinki, Finland. We’re on our way to fulfil our life-long dreams and take on a huge challenge: turn our knowledge of larp-creation into a successful company.
So we’re a games company, but not of the typical kind.
Now what does that mean?
Basically it means that instead of making digital games, our games take place in the physical world. We want to give people the chance to experience stories the way larpers do; Having your own choices and actions determine the course of a larger story. We aim to go beyond puzzle solving and game mechanics into the realm of participatory storytelling.
We have been working on building up the company for nearly a year, and like so many companies we’ve had to step back and forth to get where we are now. Like anyone hoping to reach a lifelong dream we’ve had to face some realities and find new ways to move on, yet we’ve grown stronger and smarter and keep on going.
Our upcoming product has been in development for a while now. The current pandemic rewrote our schedules and forced us to work remotely, but we’re far from giving up now that we’ve come so far!
No, instead we are putting on our metaphorical space helmets, and as we enter into astronaut-like isolation, we pledge to carry on exploring the realm of immersive games and all the amazing possibilities within!
We’re committed and inspired, and we‘ve decided to share our journey with all of its ups and downs from now on.
So we’ll be posting progress updates and behind the scenes-material regularly, and even some sneak peeks of our upcoming product when the time is right!
